May 17, 2016- Pomona, CA – Kevin O’Shea, 23, of Tucson, Arizona, plead guilty on Tuesday, May 17th, to felony animal cruelty charges for the March 24th beating of his girlfriend’s young dog.

Ontario Police Department responded to a call at the Folk Inn Hotel in Ontario on March 24th where police found the lifeless body of the dog in a hotel room. The animal owner had been locked out of her room while Kevin O’Shea beat the puppy to death.  The body was brought back to the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA where Dr. Cynthia Kinney, Director of Medical Services, performed a necropsy on the young dog. Necropsy results showed that the animal died of blunt force trauma.

The puppy was 3 months old.

Kevin O’Shea will serve 16 months in state prison.

Every year the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA responds to thousands of animal distress calls, which result in hundreds of animals finding shelter at IVHS. IVHS operates a successful anti-cruelty taskforce with a 100% conviction rate.
