All of our adoptions are spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter. Each year our staff veterinarians and volunteer veterinarians spay and neuter over 3,000 animals! Spay and Neuter surgeries average 15-20 a day, Monday through Friday. The Veterinary Care Center also makes time to examine and treat an average of 5-10 injured animals a day (most are victims of car accidents). With the help of the very dedicated veterinary care staff and the rest of the shelter staff, injured animals are not made to suffer needlessly and more animals' lives can be saved.

The vet staff also works closely with the cruelty investigator to build cases to prosecute those who abuse and neglect animals. The cruelty investigator relies heavily on the expertise of the vet staff to ensure that the cases are solid.

We offer limited veterinary care appointments to the community. Appointments can be made by phone by calling 909-623-9777.

All animals spayed or neutered at IVHS recieve a special tattoo, as shown at the left, to designate they have been altered and are not capable of reproducing.
