Gossip Girls Parent Talk

Should you spay or neuter your pet?

Read the following questions. If you can answer YES to ALL of the questions, then you can consider breeding your pet. Please remember millions of animals, including purebreds with papers, end up in animal shelters each year. Most of these animals never find homes and have to be euthanized.

  • Did you buy your pet from a professional breeder of purebred, show quality animals?
  • Does your animal have papers and a pedigree with several recent generations of champions or grand champions?
  • Is your pet a "show quality" animal
  • Has your animal been shown and won at least one championship?
  • Does your pet have a suitable temperament? (Not aggressive or snappy?)
  • Is your pet free of diseases and genetic defects?
  • Has your pet been properly vaccinated?
  • If your pet is a dog, has your pet been OFA certified and tested negative for brucellosis?
  • Is your pet at least 2 years of age?
  • Can you guarantee good homes for ALL of the puppies/kittens? 17 million animals are euthanized each year!
  • Do you have the time and money for the stud fee, extra food and veterinary care?
  • Have you found a suitable mate with the same qualifications?

If you answer NO to even one of these questions, DO NOT BREED YOUR PET!

BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM!
