Pets are a part of your life and are considered family. Planning for your pet’s future should you pass away is one of the best things you can do for them. Through the Take Comfort Program, we help those who leave a bequest* to the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA to create and implement long-term plans for their pets should their pet outlive them. The process is easy and you will feel peace of mind knowing your pet will be cared for until its last days.
* IVHS cannot guarantee placement of animals whose owners have not made prior arrangements with IVHS’s Fund Development Department therefore estate arrangements must be made with the knowledge of IVHS.
You simply complete the Take Comfort registration form and pet profile(s) return them to IVHS. Should your pets outlive you, IVHS will guarantee a home for your healthy, adoptable pet. If an animal is not healthy and is able to be reasonably treated, IVHS will treat the animal with funds from the program. Upon completion of treatment, IVHS will guarantee to place your pet in a loving, stable home.
A gift to IVHS in the amount of $10,000 per pet (either through your will/ trust or by making a current gift to IVHS) will ensure a health exam and adoption into a new home. IVHS staff will monitor and follow up to make certain that your pet is in a good environment and is responding well to its new home. Additionally, IVHS will provide veterinary wellness care post adoption such as vaccinations and annual health exams. Funding beyond what is required to cover the costs associated with the program will support the similar programs that provide care for homeless animals in our community.
To qualify for the program, your pet must be free of terminal conditions that could affect the health of other animals. You must make arrangements to include the Take Comfort Program in your estate document. This provision provides the funding necessary to support this program. You must also complete the Take Comfort registration from and pet profiles) form. If an enrolled pet should pass away before this arrangement takes effect, another animal can be enrolled in their place. However, another enrollment form must be submitted to IVHS. To receive your registration and pet profile(s), please email Jenni Skidmore by clicking here or download the forms.
